3rd weekend of Feb.'12

We have always been aware of many phobias; this weekend I enclose a list of
few modern phobias. Some of which we might be facing also as individuals.
Hope this makes an interesting and small read!

Arachibutyrophobia: Fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of one’s
mouth. The symptoms involve panic, dread, terror, anxiety, rapid heartbeat
and shortness of breath when the peanut butter is wedged on the roof of
one’s mouth.

Ephebiphobia: Fear of youth or teenagers. These people do not necessarily
go to young people, rarely consult them and avoid get-togethers where this
populace is predominant.

Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia: Fear of long words; the name is
synonymous with the fear itself.

Koumpounophobia: Fear of buttons; sufferers are usually disgusted by the
sight of them and wash their skin when it comes into contact with a button.
The kids might grow to be afraid of any round related push buttons which
one encounters in daily life.

Nomophobia: Fear of being disconnected from the rest of the world if you
don’t have contact through mobile phone. This is a raging phenomenon
amongst youth nowadays.

Papaphobia: Fear of the Pope; this can be extended to the institution o
fChurch or clergy.

Peladophobia: Fear of bald people; not to be confused with phalacrophobia
i.e. fear of getting bald.

Scopophobia: Fear of being looked / stared at

Triskaidekaphobia: Fear of the number 13; many hotels do not have the 13th
floor or any room number with the index as 13.

Trichophobia: Fear of loose hairs

Spectrophobia: Fear of mirrors and one’s own reflection

Allodoxaphobia: Fear of other people’s opinions; it does not matter whether
the  affected  person knows the person giving opinion or not. It people who
have  long being associated with some post or environment where they always
feel set back or their opinion was not accounted.

Optophobia: Fear of opening one’s eyes

Didaskaleinophobia:   Fear   of   going   to   school;   despite  conscious
understanding by the phobic individual and reassurance by others that there
is no danger

Like I always say, brickbats and bouquets welcome!
